BRUSSELS STUDY TOUR
Date: Sunday, June 15-Saturday June 21, 2025
Application Deadline: Friday, February 7, 2025
Location: Brussels, Belgium
The Center for European Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is pleased to announce a call for applications for the Brussels Study Tour 2025. The study tour–organized by the European Studies Center at the University of Pittsburgh and the Center for European Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill–will take place June 15th to June 21st. The Center for European Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will provide a travel grant to support the participation of one Wisconsin educator for this five-day long tour. It is open to pre-service teachers, K-12 educators, and faculty from community colleges and Title III-/Title Veligible institutions across the nation, in any discipline. Because the study tour is organized in partnership with several universities across the United States, educators will have the opportunity to experience Europe with peers from around the country. During the tour, participants will engage in a variety of site visits to learn more about the European Union – how it is organized, what it does, and how non-EU institutions work with the EU. Past trips have included visits to European Union institutions (the European Parliament,
the European Commission), NATO, the U.S. Mission and think tank/consulting institutions. All visits will be conducted as a group. See an example of 2024’s tour here.
If you are a Wisconsin educator interested in this wonderful opportunity to learn more about current issues in the European Union, as well as its structure, policy making, and institutions, please send your resume and a 1-2 page statement of purpose to ejconrad@wisc.edu.
UW-Madison Center for European Studies will cover the cost of participation in the study tour including airfare, lodging, and a modest per diem for the successful applicant. Costs of travel insurance, ground transportation from the airport to your hotel, and incidentals will not be covered. Participants will have the opportunity to extend their trip at their own expense.
