International Children’s Literature Celebration: Folk and Fairytales is a workshop for educators, librarians, students and children’s literature enthusiasts. The day long event will feature three award-winning authors and experts from UW-Madison. Authors will present mini lectures, engage in a roundtable discussion, and sign copies of their books for attendees. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
We are excited to welcome award-winning authors in person:
Rochelle Hassan, author of The Buried and the Bound (ages 14-18)
Karla Arenas Valenti, author of Loteria (ages 8-12)
Lori M. Lee, author of Pahua and the Soul Stealer (ages 8-12)
First 25 registrants will receive a book bundle, including all books listed above plus New Approaches to Teaching Folk and Fairy Tales, edited by Christa C. Jones and Claudia Schwabe
WIRC is pleased to offer a limited number of complimentary one-night stays at the Concourse Hotel (Friday, December 1st). This is only available to K-12 educators who live more than 1 hour away.
*This workshop is funded by grants from the US Department of Education, which prohibit us from using these funds to pay for food. Thus, the $25 registration fee is needed to cover the cost of lunch and refreshments.
